Filing Requirements

A design is a registrable design if the design is new and distinctive when compared with the prior art base for the design as it existed before the priority date of the application.

In Australia, the general requirements include providing the name and address of the Applicant, a graphical representation of the design and a concise description of the product to which the design is applied. In addition, an optional 'Statement of Newness and Distinctiveness' may also be filed.
